At GJR Institute, we have been training students on model questions and answers from the Police Sub Inspector PSC Main exam topic, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). This page will explain the critical topics in BNS for your upcoming Police Sub Inspector examination.
It is a critical section for the 2026 Kerala Police SI exam. Since the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 has replaced the IPC, these 5 marks depend on your ability to map the new section numbers to the classic offences.

Strategic Tips for the BNS Section For Kerala Police SI Mains Exam
Kerala PSC has been changing the old IPC questions with BNS since 2024. Since this is a transition year, keep these three points in mind:
| SN | Other Study Materials & Resources |
|---|---|
| 1 | IT and Cyber Crimes Study Materials |
| 2 | Preparation Strategy for the Constitution Section |
| 3 | General English: Grammar & Vocabulary Notes |
| 4 | Malayalam: Grammar, Idioms & Translation |
Spot the "New" Offences: Pay close attention to Section 103(2) (Mob Lynching) and Section 304 (Snatching). These were not distinct offences in the old IPC and are highly likely to be asked in the upcoming Police Sub Inspector exam.
Organized Crime & Terrorism: Sections 111 (Organized Crime) and 113 (Terrorist Acts) are now part of the general penal law. For an SI exam, knowing the definition of "Organized Crime" is mandatory.
The Numbering Shift: Let me share my final tips on BNS. You must memorize the new numbers for "The Big Three": Theft (303), Murder (101), and Rape (63). Do not use the old IPC numbers by accident.
